To empower a coalition of subnational jurisdictions and their partners to implement innovative jurisdiction-wide programs for sustainable low- emissions development built upon improved forest governance, novel technical and financial mechanisms, enhanced opportunities for local communities and indigenous peoples, and ongoing leadership in national, regional, and international climate policy.
WHO WE ARE
The Governor’s Climate & Forests Task Force is a subnational collaboration of 38 states and provinces working
to protect tropical forests, reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, and promote realistic pathways to forest- maintaining rural development through direct partnerships with subnational governments, civil society, indigenous people, and local communities.

SUBNATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING
GCF Task Force Governors and Secretaries lead on the forest and climate agenda regionally, nationally, and internationally and GCF Task Force Secretaries and Civil Servants implement jurisdictional strategies and investment plans
Targeted GCF Task Force jurisdictions access new and additional finance and investment for implementation of jurisdictional strategies and investment plans (the forest and climate agenda), ie: LEAF, etc.
IPLC INTEGRATION INTO SUBNATIONAL FOREST AND CLIMATE LEADERSHIP
Targeted GCF Task Force jurisdictions and regions incorporate IPLC rights, principles and interests into policies for sustainable forest and land use
